Like the turning of the leaves on the Autumn trees, The Lisa’s Legacy 5K Run Walk has become an Autumnal event to look forward to with each new Fall. After the hot and stifling Ohio summer we just had, I’m looking forward to the cooler weather on October 2nd when this year’s race will be run in the beautiful surroundings of University Circle. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever with music, snacks (including the fabulous pizza from Luigi’s restaurant in Akron), awards and prizes. Along with a dry wick Tee, all pre registered adult race registrants are entered to win an iTouch with a sport band. Participants who secure donations for their run will receive a Lisa’s Legacy lapel pin. Fundraisers who raise $500 or more are entered to win an iPad.
As usual, I’ll be there before and after the race to sign copies of Lisa’s Story and to meet and talk with the participants. All of the proceeds form the book sales and the race itself go to the Lisa’s Legacy Fund for cancer research and education at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center which will be the starting point for this year’s race.
