Behind the Books – Book 22

Jun 2, 2023

Behind another terrific cover by Chuck Ayers, Andrews McMeel continued their collection of the Crankshaft  strips in order. For completists, the first four books with Andrews McMeel provide a nice snapshot of the early work on the strip. Most of the early tropes have been established by this point, and Chuck’s art only continues to improve.

A move of the strip to King Features Syndicate was responsible for the untimely end of this collection, although, down the road, there would be a couple of collections of significant story arcs still to come from the Kent State University Press.
