Behind the Books – Book 23

Jun 6, 2023

This is the final book in the series from Barnhouse Publishing collecting the strips dealing with Harry L. Dinkle the World’s Greatest Band Director. It was always with fingers crossed that I would present a new one of these band collections to my publisher, but it must have been a bit more of a present concern this time around because I set it up so that the strips that ended the book had a sense of finality about them. Everything runs its course, and there were real life events such as the 2008 economic crash, the growing decline in newspaper readership, and a looming pandemic on the horizon that would alter the school market dramatically. All in all, it was a remarkable run for the character who had come to define the strip in the first half of its run.
