Flash Fridays – The Flash #343 March 1985
The splash page for this issue show the Flash reading the report that the private detective he hired had given him. His thoughts indicate that he now knows why his attorney Cecile Horton hates him. She holds him directly responsible for the death of her father. Before we can learn any more, the scene shifts to the future and a maximum security prison being battered by an ion storm. The energy of the storm is allowing a prisoner to escape. The authorities surmise that the escapee has traveled back in time, and it’s not hard to guess (hello, it’s the Reverse Flash) who the prisoner is.
Meanwhile back at the A plot, after their day in court, the Flash whisks Cecile to the gravesite of her father, policeman Jack O’Malley. It seems that the villain Goldface had challenged the Flash to prevent a murder he was planning (issue #316). Later, he shows up on TV again saying that the Flash hadn’t tried to stop him. It’s only revealed later later when Cecile visits Goldface in jail the he reveals that he had already killed her father before making the announcement on TV calling out the Flash. Cecile then gets taken as a hostage when some confederates break Goldface out of prison. Having been told that Cecile was going to visit Goldface, the Flash shows up just in time to rescue her. All is forgiven between the two, and, once back in court, the prosecutor calls on a surprise witness… Kid Flash! Next: Betrayal!
