Flash Fridays – The Flash #347 July 1985
The issue kicks of with a caption over the first panel that reads: “It is a dark and stormy Central City Night…” (seriously, cross my heart and call me Snoopy, that’s what it was). We see a stranger at Cecily Horton’s door in the rain (there’s no rain in any other part of this almost two year long story arc, and I wonder if it’s there now just so writer Cary Bates could write the aforementioned caption. Maybe). Anyway, the stranger in the rain turns out to be a bandaged up Captain Frye who has come over to tell the Flash’s attorney that he’s seen and been beaten up by the Reverse Flash. We cut to the Reverse Flash capturing the Mirror Master at MM’s new hideout. This scene will later be repeated with the Weather Wizard.
At the trial, Cecile decides to make no mention of what Captain Frye has told her because she can’t believe that the Reverse Flash is still alive. Once the prosecutor has wrapped up his summation, the case goes over to the jury. While waiting for a decision, the Flash decides to check out Frye’s story and goes to his house. Frye’s wife says that he’s not home and sends his to see Frye’s brother Dwight and the doctor who put in his pacemaker. The doctor tells the Flash that his brother had come to him to boost up his pacemaker to give him greater strength, and the Flash takes off thinking that Frye’s alter ego Captain Incredible is about to hit the bricks.
We cut to Captain Incredible showing up as another Captain, the Cold one, is in the midst of a Jewel heist. Suddenly, the Reverse Flash shows up to capture Captain Cold, and, in the process throws Captain Incredible of a roof. The Reverse Flash take off with Captain Cold, and the Flash shows up in time to rescue Captain Incredible from his fall. Frye unmasks himself to tell the Flash that a miniature camera in his mask recorded the whole thing, and is proof positive that the Reverse Flash is still alive and that he’s out for blood.
