LA Pix

May 20, 2020

I’ve always liked to ground my stories in real settings that I know and understand. My old school stood in for Westview High, a restaurant in Akron for Montoni’s, and a friend’s home for Les and Lisa’s house. So when I began work on the lengthy Lisa in Hollywood story arc, I spent some time in Los Angeles last summer scouting set pieces and locations to use when I staged my story. These are just a sampling of the photo reference I took. Some sharp eyed readers may recognize the entrance to Chateau Marmont that Mason and Les took to their meeting with the producer Cassidy Kerr. Another building that I chanced upon became the offices of Mixmaster Entertainment. As the story really starts to roll out, I’ll share some more working pix from my LA sojourn.
