Harry had become the first true breakout character from Funky. Now I’m not saying that Harry was anything like a mass market phenomenon, but among the musical cognoscenti, he totally rocked. He was the kind of character that you’re hoping to create when you begin your cartooning journey. It was a journey that took me from Medina to Mobile and to countless experiences, honors, and friendships along the way for which I’m forever grateful. I’m also grateful that on that soft summer evening way back when, I didn’t chuck the writing and go watch TV. You never know what the Muse has waiting for you.
