Nashville
So from time to time I’m asked where I get my ideas. Often I have no clue, but every now and then I do such as when a friend invited me to Nashville. I kinda waffled at first, but then he suggested how my visit could turn into a story possibility. I responded with how that couldn’t really work, and he came back with how it could. So last Fall I went to Nashville. Having the outlines of a story in mind, I began referencing various stages… quite literally. I visited the Ryman, The Grand Old Opry, and several bars along Broadway. I actually stood in the spot where the chair landed that Morgan Wallen had pitched off the roof of a bar. All the time, the story was being written in that back room of my mind where those sorts of things happen. I returned home with ton of memos on my phone along with and equal amount of reference photos. So here’s a way early look at the process in action.
So did I go to Nashville to reference a story, or did I go there to simply get a cool new sticker for my laptop?
