Space Busters

Mar 18, 2025

Way back when, probably in the sixth grade or so, I created a comic book I christened Space Busters as a place to house my space heroes, Starbuck Jones, Neptune Nick, and the Lunar Cadets. Thanks to a recent reprint from PS Art Books, I discovered that back in 1952 there actually was a comic with the same title. Since I got my hands on my first comic book in 1955, I had no idea that I had already been scooped. The fascinating thing is that some earlier phantom and I had both created a title that made absolutely no sense at all. How do you bust space?

But it didn’t matter because the title was pretty cool. Great minds I guess.
