The Dark Knight Keeps on Returning

Way back I don’t know when, I was seated at a Mid-Ohio Con dinner across from John Byrne and Frank Miller listening with a great deal of fascination as they talked. John about what he would do if he could ever work on Superman, and Frank about what he would do with Batman if he got the chance. John got his chance with Supes and did a masterful restoration of the character, while Frank would indeed get his shot with Bats as well. In Frank’s case it turned to be a shot heard ’round the ages. Now 40 (what??) years later, DC is planning a year long celebration of The Dark Knight Returns. This, of course, also give rise to the 4oth anniversary of the still unsolved question… is Batman coming at you, or flying away from you. Your call if you dare.
