The Radar

Apr 22, 2017

This is something I came across, as often happens, while looking for something else in the studio. It’s something that I worked on, judging from the dates, over the Christmas break in 1963. It features a character called the Radar who is sightless and navigates using a radar sense. Your guess is as good as mine as to what the sword was all about. What’s interesting is that in May of 1964, Marvel’s Daredevil made his first appearance… a blind superhero with a radar sense. What’s kind of cool to contemplate (for me anyway) is that, given the lead time on comic books, Stan and I probably came up with our visually challenged superheroes at about the same time. Of course, Stan’s hero went on to bigger and better things while mine went into a portfolio case never to be seen again (or until now anyway). Probably should have ditched the sword.
