Wunder the Wonder

Aug 12, 2020

In my journey through the editions of the 1940’s New York Daily News  Sunday comics section, I’ve been enjoying Terry and the Pirates and the amazing work of George Wunder. Don’t get me wrong, I stand in line to admire the work of Milton Caniff, but, when I started reading the comics as a kid, Wunder’s version of Terry was the one I saw. When you look at the wealth of detail that Wunder put into Terry on a day-in day-out basis, you just have to marvel at his staggering output. Knowing what it takes to produce work like this, I simply have to tip my hat to an undersung master.
