John Darling – Final Act Part 1

A few weeks back we came to the final John Darling Sunday of the strip’s eleven year run. 

Except… 

There was still a remaining week of dailies before it wrapped up. I was in the middle of a lawsuit attempting to regain the ownership of my characters, and not knowing the outcome of that, I didn’t want to end John Darling only to have it fall to other hands to continue it. So I wrote a week that would guarantee a difficult time for anyone trying to take it forward. I don’t think anything like it has ever been done in the comics, but I’ll let you see for yourself as I run the final John Darling week over the next six days here in the blog. To give the strip full circle, I invited John Darling’s original artist Tom Armstrong to help me wrap it up and he graciously obliged. Although, the final story arc wouldn’t get a proper resolution until many years later in Funky.
