I always enjoyed the cyclical nature of the school year when I was working on Funky as each new season would roll up. That still continues for me today with the annual Ohio Music Educators Conference kicking off the new book signing year. It’s always fun to attend the conference and touch bases with old friends again.
When Harry L. Dinkle The World’s Greates Band Director was first introduced, music educators took him to heart. “Football fields are for band practice” became a strip, book and poster catchword in band rooms nationwide. It still contiues today in Crankshaft although somewhat modified to match Harry’s new position as a church choir director at St. Spires.
